Install an Update Manually

  1. Select an update in the Supported Applications and Drivers dialog box.
You can find out if you have to install the update manually by reading the information in the box below the dialog box.
  2. After determining that the update must be installed manually, click Install.
After successfully downloading an update, Oil Change displays an Install dialog box.
  3. On the Install dialog box, click Manual Install.
Oil Change saves the update in a folder on your hard drive. Usually, the software manufacturer compresses manual updates so that they take up less space on the server and transfer faster. Many updates are packaged in a single program file (.exe extension).
  4. Decompress the .exe by double-clicking the file in the Windows Explorer.
You may have to use a program such as WinZip to decompress the program if it doesn’t decompress automatically. After you decompress an update, find the file containing the installation instructions. Usually, the manufacturer places the installation instructions in a text file that has a .txt or .doc extension.

Warning

You cannot use Undo to uninstall manual updates.

Tip
