A required .DLL file, URLMON.DLL or WININET.DLL, was not found appears when I use Oil Change. What should I do?

The developers have come up with a fix to the URLMON.DLL problem in the form of an executable file, download and run "axdist.exe" from the following URL.
    FTP site for Patch:
    http://ftp.cybermedia.com/oilchange/Patch/

    The problem with urlmon.dll...
Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 3.0 and later install this file and if the install of IE doesn't go well it can cause this error. A previous removal of Netscape Navigator version 2.0 off the user's system can cause this also. A basic re-install of Internet Explorer 3.0 and higher has been used as a fix.

    To Summarize:
1 Rename URLMON.DLL and WININET.DLL to URLMON.OLD and WININET.OLD respectively. (if found on your system)
2 End task on ALL but explorer.
3 Install IE 3.0 or later.
    4 Restart the system.

When I open Oil Change, I am prompted to enter my member name and password for my Internet service provider. I follow the directions and when I press dial, I receive an error saying I am unable to connect to the CyberMedia server or Login failed. What should I do?

Note: You may be asked to input the user name and password from your Internet provider. Please understand, this information "will not" be transmitted out of your system. It is only required for Oil Change to automatically connect with your Internet provider.

Now restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Your Oil Change program is now ready for Internet access.

Do I have to accept cookies from your site?

If you have your internet browser set to warn you before accepting cookies from a remote site, you MUST accept them when using Oil Change. The information that is being sent to Oil Change is required for Oil Change to operate. How can I do a manual install?

By default, Oil Change saves manual install files in the "\Temp" subdirectory of the directory in which you installed Oil Change. You can change the default download folder to any folder you want by selecting the "More" button on the main Oil Change screen, then clicking on "Options", and then selecting the "Download" tab. You are also given a chance to select the location each time you save a file for a manual download.

The general procedure for manually installing an update is as follows:

    1. Obtain any installation instructions provided within Oil Change by highlighting the update in the applications and drivers dialog box and scanning the text in the lower box for installation instructions.
    2. Retrieve the update, select the Manual Install button, and save the file to your download folder. You shouldn't change the name of the file because if you change the file extension, the file may not expand properly.
    3. Open the Windows 95 Explorer, browse to the folder that contains the update you downloaded, and uncompress it. If the file contains a .EXE extension, all you need to do is double-click it. If the file contains an extension of .ZIP, then you must unzip it using PKUNZIP or a Windows utility such as WinZip. PKUNZIP.EXE can be found in the Oil Change directory. If you do not know how to use PKUNZIP, please download WinZip from http://www.winzip.com, install it, and then double click on the .ZIP file after WinZip has been installed.
    4. Follow the instructions that were provided by Oil Change, or look for a file called README.TXT or README.DOC. If you do not see one of these files, look inside all files with .TXT or .DOC extensions for further instructions. You should be able to double-click on these files in order to open them. All of the information that you need to apply the update should be included in some form of a text file, but the name and format of the file varies by manufacturer.
    5. If you still cannot figure out how to apply the update, please contact the vendor that supplied the update for further information or clarification.
Which applications does Oil Change support?

The list of supported applications and drivers is more than a thousand, and it grows on a daily basis. We do not have a complete list available for our customers at this time. If you do not see your favorite application listed in Oil Change's Applications and Drivers dialog, please send us the name of the application or driver, and we will do our best to get it into our database.

Will Oil Change work with non-US English systems and programs?

Currently, Oil Change does not distinguish between US and international versions of software. You are strongly advised not to use this version of Oil Change with non-US Windows 95, or with non-US applications. Doing so may cause your Windows installation or Windows programs to stop working completely.
