First Aid 95 Deluxe Update Instructions

This download is not a full program. These are update files only, and they will not install unless the First Aid program already resides on your computer.

Do not put the updates on your original disks. Use only clean, formatted disks when downloading updates.

Before you begin downloading, please check your system to make sure that:

  1. There is a temporary directory on your machine. If you are not sure what your temporary directory is called, go to a DOS prompt and type C:\>set (press Enter). Look for the line TEMP=C:\TEMP (directory names may vary); this is the name of your temporary directory.

  2. Your temporary directory is empty. Use File Manager or Windows Explorer to delete the files in your temporary directory so you can download to an empty directory.

  3. Disable all running programs before installing the update. To disable background programs:
In Win 3.1x press CTL-ESC, highlight each listing except Program Manager, and click End Task. You will have to repeat this procedure for each file listed.
In Win95 press CTL-ALT-Delete, then highlight programs and click End Task.
Do not close the program called Explorer.

  4. The First Aid Deluxe program is currently installed on your system and you are downloading the correct files for your program. The download files are designed for each individual program, and cannot be interchanged.
After downloading the files:
  1. Be sure to double click on each file you have downloaded to decompress all the update files.

  2. When you start the SETUP.EXE installation program, be sure to specify the directory that First Aid Deluxe is installed. The SEVERE ERROR message is an indication that you are installing the update to a directory other than the one containing the original program files.

  3. At 14,400 bps, a 2 MB file should take no longer than 30 minutes. If the download took an unusually long time, there is a possibility that the file is corrupt. If this is the case, you can attempt the download again or contact customer service at (310) 581-4710 x560. You may also send a message to custserv@cybermedia.com.
