SANTA MONICA, CA - February 6, 1997 - According to a new report published by PC Data, CyberMedia (Nasdaq/NM: CYBR) is now ranked third in unit market share of the top 25 software publishers (business category.) PC Data also listed CyberMedia's sales growth for the past 12 months at 297%, and 91% in the past month alone. CyberMedia, a relative newcomer to the market, shares the top ten slots with leading software publishers including Microsoft, Symantec, Corel, McAfee, Quarterdeck Adobe and Netscape.

CyberMedia's retail software products, First Aid and Oil Change, have experienced explosive sales growth - both are now top ten bestsellers. Shortly after its introduction, First Aid rocketed to the top of software charts in the U.S. It is now the number four best-selling retail business software product in America and the a top 10 best-selling software product in Germany and France. In its first quarter on the market, Oil Change is already the number one bestselling Internet software product, and seventh best-seller overall.

"More first time users than ever are buying new PCs, yet at the same time, PCs are becoming increasingly complex," said Unni Warrier, president and CEO of CyberMedia. "Our sales success is proof that consumers have a genuine need for software products, like First Aid and Oil Change, that make computers easier to use and support by automatically fixing problems and updating software to eliminate bugs and glitches."

TWO TOP TEN BESTSELLERS
First Aid automatically detects and fixes problems with Microsoft Windows 95 applications, making PCs easier and less frustrating to use, and less expensive for vendors to support. First Aid reduces the number of technical support calls that software and hardware vendors receive by automatically intercepting system crashes and resolving many common Windows software problems on the fly.

Oil Change searches the Internet and automatically installs the latest software updates, new hardware drivers and other product enhancements for today's most widely-used computer software. This can prevent many potential problems and improve the performance of PC hardware and software.
