CyberMedia Offers an Apology to Netscape

Free On-Line Update Resolves Issue

SANTA MONICA, CA - - (February 17, 1998) -- CyberMedia's (NASDAQ\NMS: CYBR) President and CEO Unni Warrier today offered a public apology to Netscape due to a bug in the initial release of its best-selling automatic service and support software program - First Aid 98. According to Warrier, after running First Aid 98, some users experienced an inadvertent change of their default Internet browser from Netscape to Internet Explorer (IE) 4.0. Warrier went on to state that the bug has been alleviated in the first downloadable update for First Aid 98. The update is available now for free to owners of First Aid 98.

"We are truly sorry for any inconvenience we have caused our customers or Netscape directly, " said Warrier. "Although First Aid 98 requires that portions of Internet Explorer 3.2 or higher be installed in order to take advantage of Microsoft's ActiveX technology and HTML controls, our customers can continue using their favorite browser without being forced to default to Internet Explorer." Warrier continued, "First Aid always has and will continue to support the widest possible range of third party Internet products in order to meet the needs of all our customers. We are confident that this new update will address the browser issue and will also add significantly enhanced features making First Aid the most comprehensive automatic problem solving application on the market today."
