Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will use CyberMedia's file cleaning technology—a component of its UnInstaller(TM) software package— in a limited way in its Plus! 98 ® software companion package for Windows 98 users.

Microsoft's Plus! 98 product uses the licensed CyberMedia technology as part of its Disc Cleanup functionality within Windows 98, so that users can safely remove non-critical files from their PC. Plus! 98 users who desire additional cleaning features will be directed via a built-in hot link straight to CyberMedia's web site, where they can purchase the full-featured version of Uninstaller. CyberMedia will also be permitted to make promotional mailings about its products to registered Microsoft Plus! 98 users.
