CyberMedia’s Dog with No Name Receives Official Title
SANTA MONICA, CA - - (February 9, 1998) – CyberMedia would like to thank the winner of the "Name the Guard Dog" contest Daniel Nelson of Fort Worth Texas for giving the previously unnamed mascot of our Internet anti-invasion program Guard DogÔ Deluxe something to etch on his dog tag. Megabyte is so glad to finally have a name that he has asked the company to present Mr. Nelson with CyberMedia’s Guard Dog Deluxe, Oil ChangeÔ , UnInstallerÔ and First AidÒ 98 Deluxe programs and a $500 gift basket of goodies for Mr. Nelson’s dog including: top of the line sleeping accommodations in a stuffed circular bed, a vast and colorful array of squeaky chew toys and, a small mountain of gourmet flavored Milk Bones.
When informed of the winning entry, Unni Warrier, president and CEO of CyberMedia said, "Megabyte. I like it. It’s tougher than a regular bite, and it’s just what our Guard Dog will do to hackers and others who may try to invade your PC privacy."
The name was determined by a panel of judges from the Santa Monica Animal Shelter Lost & Found who chose from a list of more than 1,100 names entered by Guard Dog enthusiasts around the world via CyberMedia’s web site at www.cybermedia.com.
