CyberMedias Guard DogTM
Anti-Invasion Software Honored as Finalist in Software Publishers
"Codie" Awards Program
Innovative new Internet
Software Product Finalist in Two Categories; Best New Consumer
Software and Best Internet/Online Service
WASHINGTON, DC
December 30, 1997 -- CyberMedias Guard DogÔ
Deluxe, the new Internet security and privacy software product
for Microsoft Windows 95 PCs, recently pulled ahead as a finalist
in not one but two separate categories in the 1997 Software Publishers
Associations (SPA) Excellence in Software/Codie Awards Review
Program. Guard Dog is the most powerful way to protect users
privacy and security on the Internet.
Shipping since early October, Guard Dog Deluxe has already established
itself as the leading retail anti-invasion software product which
protects computer users on the Internet from a host of hostile
threats. Guard Dog Deluxe surpassed hundreds of products in the
preliminary judging to prevail as one of only five finalists for
Best New Consumer Software and one of six finalists for Best Internet/Online
Service.
This achievement entitles Guard Dog Deluxe to compete for the
distinguished honor as a Codie Award Winner. Winners will be announced
at the 1998 Excellence in Software Awards Gala to be held during
the SPAs Spring Symposium in San Jose, CA, on March 23, 1998.
Why Internet Consumers Need Guard Dog Deluxe
Designed to protect users against present and future security
and privacy threats while surfing the Internet, Guard Dog Deluxe
protects sensitive information by creating a virtual "firewall"
around files that contain personal information, such as passwords
and Quicken data files. The program alerts users when someone
attempts to gain access to their hard drive. It also protects
web surfers privacy by giving them the power to control cookies,
thus "closing the curtains" on the prying eyes of third
parties such as banner server companies and direct marketers.
Guard Dogs My Info Filter feature also limits "search
request" information so that only the actual text of a users
request goes out to the Internet.
Recognizing the increasing need for an Internet security product
that goes beyond simple anti-virus protection CyberMedia, makers
of award winning products such as First AidÒ
, Oil ChangeÔ , and UnInstallerÔ
, proudly shipped Guard Dog Deluxe in October, 1997.
