GATEWAY JOIN FORCES TO SUPPLY THE NEXT LEVEL OF INTEGRATED SUPPORT
FOR GATEWAY PC USERS
Joint Development Effort
Under Way to Create a Customized Support and Education Tool
Santa Monica, Calif., June 24, 1998 --
CyberMedia, Inc. (NASDAQ:CYBR), the leader in automatic technical
support for personal computers, today announced an agreement with
Gateway (NYSE:GTW), a global leader in the direct marketing of PCs,
to offer the next level of fully integrated PC support for Gateway
users.
Under the terms of the joint development effort, CyberMedia has
been customizing its award-winning software to create a support
and education tool that will be factory-installed on all Gateway
PCs designed for the home and small to medium-sized businesses.
"Partnering with one of the largest producers of PCs in the US
endorses and further strengthens our leadership position," said
Kanwal Rekhi, CyberMedia's chairman and CEO. "This will allow us
to substantially expand CyberMedia's user base. By working closely
with Gateway's development team we expect to gain valuable insights
that will refine our product to better address customer needs."
The Gateway-CyberMedia relationship is based on a renewable one-year
contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
